10 Easy Tricks You Can Teach Your Teacup Yorkie in Los Angeles

1. Sit — The foundation of all training. Hold a tiny treat above your Yorkie’s nose and move it back until they sit naturally, then reward immediately.
2. Stay — Ask for sit, then take one step back. Reward for holding position. Gradually increase distance and duration.
3. Come — Call your Yorkie’s name and the word come with enthusiasm. Reward lavishly every time they run to you.
4. Shake hands — Gently lift one paw while saying shake and reward. Most Yorkies learn this one quickly.
5. Spin — Hold a treat to your Yorkie’s nose and move it in a small circle. Their body will follow. Say spin as they complete the circle.
6. Down — From sit position, slowly lower a treat from their nose toward the floor. They will follow into a lying position.
7. Roll over — From the down position, guide a treat over their shoulder until they roll. This takes practice but Yorkies love it.
8. High five — An extension of shake hands — raise your hand flat and encourage them to touch it.
9. Speak — Wait for your Yorkie to bark naturally, then say speak and reward. They learn to bark on command surprisingly fast.
